HP Superdome Server Shatters Java Performance Benchmark Record
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 1, 2002--HP (NYSE:HPQ - News)
today announced it has achieved world-record performance for Java®
applications on the SPECjbb2000 benchmark.(1) The 64-way HP Superdome
server with the newly announced PA-8700+ processor secured the world's
best SPECjbb200 result submitted to date, scoring 614,538 Java
applications per second and beating a 104-way Sun Starfire 15K.
This result also is 80 percent better than IBM's p690 server,
showcasing the superior power and scalability of HP's 64-way system
for Java applications.
HP also has submitted world-leading SPEC OMP results on the HP
Superdome server for review to SPEC HPG.(2) SPEC OMP2001
(http://www.spec.org/hpg/omp2001) is targeted principally at
high-performance technical or scientific computing systems in research
and government institutions. The 64-way HP Superdome server OMP Medium
and Large results are 20 percent and 40 percent faster than all
previous 64-way submissions, respectively.
